Received oracle certificate for OCJP 6 SE Programmer


Received a package from ORACLE EMEA, Dublin, Ireland.

I successfully passed the OCJP java SE6 exam (1Z0-851) on 17-Aug-2015 and received the hard copy on 13-Nov-2015. (Yes there was late delivery due to an issue). I have been learning, programming and making projects in java for a long time (6-7 years) and i found about this exam from a senior. As i was interested in java i gave this exam and passed and received my certificate. Now i am known as an ORACLE CERTIFIED JAVA PROFESSIONAL. This in itself is an achievement for me and now this is something that differentiates me from all other java programmers. I am now certified by Oracle!.

About the exam- The exam is conducted through an authority called Pearson Vue. So you have to register yourself at Pearson vue to give the exam. The exam is an taken online examination and is conducted at various places all over the globe. (look for Pearson exam center near your place. here is the link to website) The questions are multiple choice multiple correct and sometimes drag and drop type varies every time. There are 60 questions and time limit is 150 mins (no negative marking).
the fees is about Rupees 10K. (about 158 $) You need to score at least 61% to pass the exam. The exam is a little tough as compared to the OCA exams as it is a professional level exam.

How did I prepare- I was already experienced in java from school.(yes they teach java here from 7th standard) and i also used to make apps, games and lot mroe using java so i already has the practical knowledge of java. what i needed was to study a book and the book i purchased was- SCJP by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates. this is the right book for the exam. I studied each and every page very properly in 1 month and got each and every concept in deep understanding. Next what i did was to study the dumps from the previous exam. (only revise dumps do not cram them and read them after you complete the book) i did this in about 10 days and what i did next was to give some mock test. here is one here is another one. just don't take the results of these test seriously. you'll score a lot more in the real exam then these mock tests.(experience says) these tests re just for a warm-up before the real exam. after 2-3 days i registered for the exam and kept on revising the book and dumps.

During the exam- I reached the exam center a little late because i wasn't able to find the center here (due to wrong depiction google maps). so do not always trust google maps. I think you should visit the exam center a day before to get familiar. anyway, the exam was kinda easy for me and i did good in the examination. the result will not be shown after you complete the exam or anywhere in the exam center. you just get back to your home and check certview. you'll see the result here. and don't get discouraged if you didn't pass the exam because it is a difficult exam and is professional level exam. try reading thee book better again and then try again. And congrats if you have passed it.

Receiving the certificate- The e certificate is already received within 2-3 days and the hard copy is to be requested manually. you'll receive an email about the hard copy request procedure so don't worry about it. I received the hard copy within 3 moths due to some issue but it is normally received within 2 months. I received following 3 things in the package.-

Conclusion- It was a good experience overall to give the exam and my excitement was amazing when passed the exam and receive the certificate. If you have been developing in java for a long time them definitely go for this exam.
